Q:

How do I measure my height?

A:

You should measure from the top of your head to the ground, either in metres and centimetres or feet and inches. When measuring your height, please do not wear any heeled footwear.

Q:

How do I measure my head?

A:

You should measure one inch (25mm) above your eyebrows and then measure all the way round your head with a fabric tape measure.

Q:

How will you know what outfit to provide me?

A:

By supplying us with the university that you attended, the name of the award that you studied for, the faculty that you studied under, and the year that you graduated, we will know the correct outfit to supply you with.

Q:

What should I wear under my robe?

A:

It is important to remember that from the elbow down your arm will be visible against the gown, particularly if you're wearing a long-sleeved shirt, so you may want to wear a jacket or long sleeves underneath your robe. Although most gowns and hoods now have velcro, it's still a good idea to wear something with a buttoned front as it will help the hood neckband to sit better.

Q:

Can I have my measurements taken in an Ede & Ravenscroft shop?

A:

No unfortunately this is not possible. However guidance on how to take your measurements is given on the website.

About Private Hire

Q:

How much notice do I need to give to privately hire an outfit?

A:

We normally require at least ten working days to supply the requested outfit.

Q:

How long is the private hire for?

A:

The private hire period is a week, before you need to send the outfit back to us.

Q:

What if I need to extend the hire period of the outfit?

A:

Can I take the outfit outside of the United Kingdom?

A:

Unfortunately it is not possible to take privately hired outfits out of the United Kingdom. To arrange to take an outfit outside of the UK please contact our export department. export@edeandravenscroft.com

Can I purchase the privately hired outfit?

Unfortunately it is not possible to purchase the hire outfit. If you would like to purchase an outfit please contact us at customerservices@edeandravenscroft.com

Private Hire is currently closed and I need to place an order?

Our Private Hire Service may be closed in busy graduation ceremony periods.

Delivery of the outfit

Q:

How will I receive the outfit?

A:

The outfit will be sent to the address you specified.

Q:

How will the outfit be delivered?

A:

The outfit will be delivered by a courier company.

Q:

How long does the delivery normally take?

A:

Delivered to the UK mainland the following working day after despatch. Please note that locations off the UK mainland or remote locations may take longer, for more information please contact us.

Q:

What time will the parcel be delivered?

A:

The outfit could be delivered between 7am and 7pm. The courier company will send an update on delivery status.

Q:

Can I track the delivery of the parcel?

A:

When the outfit has been despatched you will receive an email providing you with a tracking number which you can then use to track the progress of the parcel.

Q:

Will the outfit be delivered at the weekend?

A:

Our couriers deliver on both Saturday and Sunday's on the mainland (some restrictions apply in offshore areas).

Q:

Does someone need to be present at the address to sign for the parcel?

A:

The courier companynormally requires someone to be available to sign for the parcel, if not they will take the parcel to a local drop-off point for you to collect within 5 days.

Q:

I have not received my order?

A:

Private Hire orders will be delivered on or before the preferred delivery date and you should receive an order dispatch notification 1-2 days before delivery. If you have not received your order dispatch email please fill out our contact form .

Q:

I have received my private hire order and the incorrect outfit has been sent?

A:

Please fill out our contact form as soon as possible if this has occurred.

Returning the outfit

Q:

Should I clean the outfit before sending it back?

A:

We would ask that you don't attempt to clean the outfit before returning it as we will do this once it has been returned.

Q:

How do I return the privately hired outfit?

A:

Please return the outfit via a local courier pick up location using the prepaid postage bag. Please refer to our courier's website for details.

Q:

Can I send the outfit back to you via Royal Mail?

A:

We would advise against this, as the return bag won't be prepaid and you will need to pay an additional charge.

Q:

How will you know that the returned outfit is mine?

A:

By leaving the 'Do Not Remove' ticket inside the gown we are able to confirm who has returned the outift.

Q:

Can I return my outfit to my nearest Ede and Ravenscroft store?

A:

Unfortunately it is not possible to return the outfit to a store. You can return your outfit to the gown collection point at the ceremony or return by post in the bag provided to the address as stated in the back of your gown.
